Hi I'm back again!!! My fourth time here. Ive owned a 1500, 2500, and a Dakota. All second gen. I just purchased a new truck yesterday. A 2003 dodge ram 1500. After driving it all day the CEL came on!!! The guy I bought it from swears it wasn't on before. I knew and tried to cycle the key and it worked it read po344 cam shaft sensor.
So I pulled out the sensor and the connector. The two outsides wires are power one battery, one computer. Not sure which is which I haven't found any color codes. I checked them both with my multi meter and they're both putting out 5 amps. The middle ground is good. Now if I'm not mistaken. When you take your meter and put it from one outer wire to a ground it should zero out on one side right? Then the other side should be constant 12v? Well when I do this is always stays at 5v it never changes. So is the sensor bad? Or am I screwing something up???? The new truck

One wire should be a five volt feed, another wire will be signal return to the PCM, third wire should go to ground. None of them should be seeing 12 volts.......

You might get a obd2 reader that can see that output and graph it. I use an inexpensive bluetooth obd2 from Amazon and the torque app on my phone. I don't know if it has that output as one of the graph-able elements or not....
