Tranny shop for pinion seal????
I went to a mechanic for my leaking pinion seal and he told me he doesn't want to mess with it and to take it to a tranny shop. Why would he say that im pretty sure he knows how to fix it hes been a mechanic his whole life im no mechanic .
Because rear diff setup can be a right pain in the keester. And if you do it wrong, it can get expensive REAL fast. He likely doesn't want to take on the potential liability. Can't blame him for that. Not like there are a lot of parts involved though, so, going to the dealer might not be a bad idea.
Really easy to fix, just pull the driveshaft off, mark the nut on the yoke, count the amount of turns it takes to get it off, pull the yoke off, replace the seal then put the yoke and nut back on exactly how it was before.
