Default 2008 Ram 3500 radio fuse

I installed a new head unit using Crutchfield wiring adapters. It worked fine for several weeks, then it went dead. There was no power in the factory harness so I pulled the 20A fuse in the engine bay fusebox and put it back in since it looked fine. Radio had power again for a couple days.

The power to my radio goes out frequently now.
I pull the fuse and reinsert it and all is good.
The fuse is good visually and tested with DMM.
The last time I twisted the legs just slightly thinking it may have a loose socket. It lasted for one start, next time it was out again.
Any suggestions?

Replace the fuse anyway. They are cheap.

Check the wiring to the fuse. Might have a bad/loose connection somewhere.

And if that doesn't work, call Crutchfield. Great customer support.

Default IPM Fault?

Like HeyYou said,
I am thinking IPM may be the fault

IPM (Integrated Power Module) has been known to 'get' loose wiring pins, corrosion, and other random electrical faults.
The fact that you simply remove the fuse and then reinstall it is suspect.

YouTuber vids about IPM and TIPM.
Take pictures
I hope this helps you.

Please return and tell how this information worked for you, what you find, and how you eventually fix your vehicle (even if it is that you brought it to a mechanic / dealership for repair)
It is your feedback and final repair report that will make these forums useful to others in the future.
Many times I search and find the same exact fault that I am having, someone suggests how to fix it, the patron follows the suggestion and then never returns to say YEA! or NAY...

The forum thread just goes dead because the person fixed their fault and has not a care to offer the answer anymore. Please don't be that guy.

Cheers!

the fact that there's no power coming in eliminated the head unit itself. Crutchfield has been great support.

Replacing the fuse did not solve the issue.

Will be tearing the TIPM box apart next.
I'm pretty good at follow up.

This video was pretty clear. Now to schedule a time...

Replaced fuse. Head unit powered up for several power up/down and start/shut down cycles.
Left it sit overnight and once again no power.

Well it would be in the factory harness somewhere. I have no idea of how that runs.
will be tearing fusebox apart next since pulling and pushing the fuse out an in restores power.
It'll be a weekend job when I dont need the truck.

So another member experienced an electrical problem here:
https://dodgeforum.com/forum/3rd-gen...hts-oh-my.html

There is a company noted that they bought a rebuilt IPM from and when that didn't fix the problem they also got a FCM (the computer brain for the fuse box)

BUT, that being said, my first recommendation is to disconnect the negative battery cable and touch it to the (+) positive cable. This act should drain off the internal capacitors of all the modules and 'reboot' the truck.

Try that and see how that works.
* Make sure that you have the fault (radio inop) and without removing and replacing the fuse (or what ever 'rain dance' is that you do to temporarily get the radio to work) reboot the truck and see what you get.
