BUT, what about the SKIM?

It sounds like you were in LIMP mode, from what you described and it is just that ...
LIMP off of the highway and in the right hand lane (with or without hazard lights flashing) limp off the highway and either to the house or a repair garage.

Myself, before I started throwing expensive parts at it, I would start to troubleshoot by disconnect the battery. The unplug all the associated connectors and inspect for corrosion in those connectors, look for burnt, chafed, or even rat chewed wires. If I didn't see anything, I would pull the transmission speed sensors and look for some anomaly there like a small piece of metal stuck to the magnetic sensor tip. (remove it and then try to test drive)
All of this wire connector inspecting done with your battery disconnected AND preferably done with the battery disconnected and the battery wires connected to one another (system reboot)
I hope this helps you. Please hit the [ LIKE ] button… 😊

Please return and tell how this information worked for you, what you find, and how you eventually fix your vehicle (even if it is that you brought it to a mechanic / dealership for repair)
It is your feedback and final repair report that will make these forums useful to others in the future.
Many times I search and find the same exact fault that I am having, someone suggests how to fix it, the patron follows the suggestion and then never returns to say YEA! or NAY...

The forum thread just goes dead because the person fixed their fault and has not a care to offer the answer anymore. Please don't be that guy.

Cheers!

i already checked under the truck and checked my tv cable everything was fine i’ll update if anything new happens.

i only have a memory checksum error code “P0601”

all though i’m ordering a new pcm all though i’m just curious whether needing the same exact part number as the failed pcm has woukd play part into anything cause i found a pcm with the same part number and it’s 120$ more than one with a different part number but is still plug and play

That 601 code says the PCM is bad, and no amount of troubleshooting is going to solve it, until that is addressed.... Bad pcm is a bad pcm.

So is this the same thing? Am I dead truck rolling?
This was found under HVAC codes and it will not clear.

Even if you clear it, it will come right back. The checksum isn't going to fix itself.

I'd put in EXACTLY the same part number as you had, and then have it programmed. When I replaced mine, it was showing a bad 02 sensor reading. After swapping the sensor side to side, then checking continuity of the wiring, then making sure I had no connector issues.... I concluded iit must be a bad pcm. Swapped in the an exact part number replacement, ( had to get another because the first one they send me would run then die), and drove it to the dealer to program it.

I wouldn't take a chance that the dealer can deal with putting different model/application year pcms in there and getting it programmed properly.
