Need the gauge set, I think you can rent one from your local parts store.... hook the air to the gauge, gauge to cylinder you are testing (cylinder at TDC in firing position, both valves closed) and see what things look like. The part I like best about it it, not only will it tell you what kind of shape your engine is in, it will also tell you WHERE compression is going. You can hear where it is leaking from.
