Default Front wheels lock up while driving

Hey everyone, I’ve been having issues with the 4x4 on my 07 2500. The front axles locks up suddenly while driving in 4x4 skidding the tires. I can reverse just fine but as soon as I move forward the wheels lock up again in both 2WD and 4WD. I removed the front drive shaft and was able to drive home without issue. If I jack up the front axle I can spin both sides freely as we as spin the pinion in both directions. Any ideas on where to start? Thanks in advance.

Some recent history: It has done this a week before. I had the truck towed found that the outer pinion bearing was shot so I did a bearing and seal rebuild. I replaced the gear seat as well. Then during my first test drive is when the events in the first post happened

Is it the axle or the t-case that is locking up? If it was the axle, I would think pulling the front shaft wouldn't matter.....

I’m thinking it is the T case just not sure if this would be caused by the shift motor or the internals of the t case

Trying to shift into some variety of 4x4 on a high traction surface can indeed cause some interesting behavior. Unfortunately, that is something the electronic shift T-case does as one of its failure modes...... Figuring out if it is the the switch, controller, or shift motor is the fun part.
