727 trans on gen3 hemi

Changing the trans won't give you any more power, but, it'll annoy the PCM. It would also be a major step backwards in technology. 727 is only a three speed. My guess is the 545RFE probably has a lower first gear than the 727... so, swapping one in would be counter-productive.

That depends on what a guy is trying to achieve and since the engine is no longer be run by the original pcm it'll be more difficult to keep the original trans and I'd rather have something more simple thats a known high hp option. So has anyone here done it? Looking for more info
Theoretically, the bolt pattern for the hemi isn't too far off from the old magnum engines, which are the same as the even older LA series engines. I think there is one bolt (at the top?) that doesn't line up. There was a thread about this around here at one point, but, that was quite some time ago.

And I was supposed to know this how? My ESP really sucks of late. Including that it WASN'T going to be in a stock anything..... would change things a bit.

Yes torqueflite bolts up, same bolt pattern, LA, Magnum, 4.7, 5.7, 6.1, 6.2, 6.4. One bolt hole doesn't get used up top. Popular performance swap in 3rd gens is 46RH (small block 727 with OD unit) or 46RE (similar but electronically rather than hydraulically controlled). Assuming this the 04 in your profile name, the 46RE would probably be the better option as there are kits for this: https://www.coperacingtrans.com/?pro...4x4-gen-3-hemi
The 727 can still be used, but you have hurdles to overcome:
1. Making the PCM happy without trans inputs
2. Kickdown linkage; electronic TB has no provision for a cable so no attachment point and without someway of hooking that up you will frag a 727 in short order
