Default Driver seat won't stay up

I have an 05 SLT and the driver's seat will not start in the upright position if I put much pressure on it. Under hard acceleration, laying back etc, the seat just falls back. Not sure what to search for when looking for a replacement part or how to replace it.

Recliner mechanism.... not sure if that is available without buying the whole seat. Wouldn't hurt to have a look at it though, might just need a bit of cleaning/lubrication.

It's possible someone released the seat to lay back and the cable stuck. There should be 4 to 8 bolts holding the seat to the floor. Unbolt the seat from the floor and work the release handle on the side and see where the cable goes. I'll bet something got in there.

Little blue tools might help get it to stay up too.

Thanks for the suggestions, I might check out a junkyard of it is broken, couldn't find that mechanism anywhere as a new item anyways. Probably get a whole seat for the same price.

Ps don't use too many of those little blue pills... 😂

Pills? It's blue tools used on equipment that gives you torsional rigidity.
