Lightbulb 2002 1500 Cluster Partially Working

Hello, I searched around but could only find threads about the entire cluster not working, or just one part of it, so sorry if this has been talked about but I didn't see it.

I just bought the truck, and the cluster gauges, gauge backlight, and all the exterior lamps (I've seen some people say that can be related), the odometer, and the shifter panel all work and light-up fine.

But all of the other cluster indicators don't work at all. No blinker indicators, check engine, brake, ABS, highbeams, seatbelt, airbag, fuel, or malfunction lights.

The truck runs great, everything seems to work otherwise.

I don't have any experience with Dodges of this age, and the backlight of the gauges struck me as a surprisingly vibrant blue that I'm not sure is stock, so I was wondering if there was a possibility that one of the previous owners modified the lights and if that could have something to do with it.

Also, there is this one issue with the headlights. The "lamp out" indicator on the odometer panel does work, and it comes on (and dings) momentarily when I switch from my lows to highs, and the lights do a stuttery blink and switch over, then the "lamp out" indicator turns off. Don't know if that could be related.

I checked fuses 22, 51, & 18, but they were all fine.

I've seen people talk about the light rotary switch, the relays, the panel itself, power control... and I just don't really know where to begin diagnosing.

The c-code given by the cluster said that a number of these indicators (but not all of them) were "open", I'm not sure if that means there's an issue with the cluster itself or something upstream.

Any help is appreciated. Thanks for your time.

Its entirely possible it was modded. Unfortunately, I don't think a wiring diagram exists for the cluster...

I'm willing to just buy a replacement cluster, I'm just trying to get some advice on whether or not the cluster itself is probably the problem, or the harness or some sensor or a relay or who knows what.

The c-codes saying the indicators and illumination circuits are open makes me think the cluster is just damaged, but I don't know.

The trick would be to look at the wiring diagrams for the stuff that DOESN'T work, and see if any of them have a direct feed to the cluster for their indicators, or if the cluster just gets that info over the data bus.... (I suspect the latter there.) It *might* just be bad or mis-installed bulbs..... Wouldn't hurt to pull the clusters, and see if you have access to any of the bulbs that don't work, see if they are there, see if they have been replaced by LED's, and see if they mount more than one way if they are LED's.....
