Default 2005 dodge ram 1500 4x4 scrapping/rubbing noise on deceleration rear end

Hey everyone new to the group. Please help!
I have a 2005 dodge ram 1500 4x4
Recently noise has become worse coming from rear end
only starts after a few minutes of driving
Sounds like scraping/rubbing noise from rear when decelerating after 40/50kmh. Gets worse longer the session of driving.
Drive shaft and u- joints seem fine
there is some play when I spin the drive shaft with the rear end of the ground.
is it the diff or wheel bearings?
anyone else have this???

I would be pulling the cover, and having a look.... That doesn't sound good.

There's a recall for your truck where the pinion nut loosens up and eventually causes the entire rear end to lock up. I'd pull it from service until you get a good, good look at it.

I have heard that. Do you think that’s the noise? Truck has 316000kms . Do you think I could take the drive shaft off and just tighten up that nut? Or is it more involved.

There’s no leaks at all from the diff and fluid was adequate… possibly wheel bearings??
