Default High beam light issue

2006 Dodge Ram 2500 SLT/Big Horn Edition
5.9 Cummins Diesel

So I switched my headlights to aftermaarket headlights, and decided to switch the bulbs in the new housings as well, the bulbs are h1 halogen bulbs. Whenever the truck is not running, all lights will work EXCEPT for the passenger side high beam. Then if I start the truck and turn the lights on, it works fine. Even if the truck is running with lights on, and I shut it off, the lights still stay on, but if I cycle the headlights on/off, right high quits. Has anyone ever seen anything like this? All I have read that somewhat relates to this is a funky TIPM. I did a TIPM reset as well, left batteries disconnected for a whole day, and didn’t fix it. Anyone know any tricks or other things to check? Not a huge deal that the light doesn’t work with it off, just kind of annoying. All fuses in the TIPM were good as well. Let me know if anything I could be missing.

Are you using bulbs that were provided with the aftermarket headlight assemblies? Typically those can have issues. I would test the old bulbs to see if you have the same issue first.

Yes, I did try putting the bulbs that came with the housing back in, had the same issue.

Was this issue happening before the headlight assemblies + bulb replacements? I'd check the fuses too.

No sir, everything was good when I first got the new housings. I just swapped the new bulbs in, and since then it has had problems. All fuses are good.

Put the original bulbs back on. Does the problem go away?

Headlights are driven entirely by the TIPM. Seems like there are individual circuits for each lamp. (total of 4) If the TIPM is being flaky, and the reset didn't work, you can either live with the odd behavior, or, replace the TIPM. Not an inexpensive proposition.
