4.7 magnum turbo
i already know what you guys are gonna say “just buy a hemi and swap it” i want to keep my 4.7 is the thing, would anyone be able to tell me what all i’ll need to turbo it? i’m not looking to push 30 pounds of boost, probably not even 10, i know the basics like injectors, tune, and some other stuff, but i’ve seen people do it before but they never want to say what they did to turbo it and what parts they used, not even a brand/ company that makes/ sells those parts, i am truly serious about this
There wont be a 'kit' for it. EVERYTHING will need to be custom fabricated. Need to figure out where you have room to mount the turbo, and go from there. Stock motor should handle 7 pounds of boost ok if you don't beat on it hard. Of course, that implies you have everything else to make it work.... The tune is the biggest hurdle.... If you haven't done custom tuning yourself, payin' someone to do it ain't gonna be cheap....
You picked one of the worst engines to start with, but....
This is how people used to do it back in the day: https://www.tognottisautoworld.com/a...bo-kit-sts1000 still gonna have to fab stuff & source parts as I don't believe they make the Ram specific kit anymore. If you Google 'sts rear mount turbo kit dodge ram 4.7' you will find more info than you could possibly want.
Alternatively, you could do this with airram.com: https://www.dodgetalk.com/threads/4-...s-vids.367696/

You will absolutely hate trying to source stronger internals unless you just intend to run it til it blows and then throw another engine in it. Also once you cross north of 400 hp your RFE trans is living on borrowed time. Good luck lol!

so let’s just say i want to run 5 pounds of boost, ill obv need injectors tune, would i need cams, forged/ stronger pistons? crank? crank bearings? stronger oil pump? say you were gonna turbo a 4.7, what all would you do to engine wise
If you're looking to end up with a track racer I'd start looking into the hard parts. If you're just looking to have the oddball street toy. Build the turbo kit, get the tuning, and see how it runs, Probably wont need much for 5 lbs of boost. I think they use a MAP sensor from an SRT Neon? The factory MAP sensors can't read positive pressure I don't believe.
For 5 pounds of boost, stock parts will be fine. (you will need the larger injectors though.)

i’m just looking for a little street toy that doubles as a work truck, i found some places for aftermarket parts, all of it has to be machined but i’ll probably do a tune, turbo, ECM, injectors, gears, 08 intake swap, egr delete, cams, bigger throttle body, and MAYBE heads if i can find any, what do you recommend to use for injectors and ECM
