Im overhauling my 2004 ram single cab. Ive already finished most of the engine and suspension and steering. Im working on interior now and got a full bench seat with zero rips or tears and basically perfect condition. IT was salvage however i want to clean it really good because im removing the entire carpet everything to get it looking nice. I was wondering if i take the uphostery off can i put it into a washer on gentle, washer doesnt have agitator fyi. would it be better to just remove the cloth and just hand clean the foam? I dont mean just the seat im also asking about the backrest as well is it possible to remove the cloth cover and wash it while cleaning the backrest foam?

 

I think using something like an upholstery steam cleaner would be better. No disassembly required.... and highly effective at getting all the dirt/grit out.

 

If the upholstery is CLOTH ONLY (absolutely no other material) then yes, it can go in the washer on the GENTLEST cycle with a minimum of detergent. I did this in my 2003 to get the smoke (and probably some fart) smell out.
