I'm sure this has been asked many times before, and my Google searches return so many conflicting answers that I'm all confused. But, can you tell me with confidence or experience, exactly what vehicles I can get direct compatible transmission to fit my 2002 Ram 4x4 with 5.9 engine.
I know I should get one from same model truck, but I'm having trouble finding that here in north Florida.
I know I have to have one from a 4x4, but not sure of the compatible year-model or if it can be from a Durango or Dakota.
So, please tell me what is compatible

 

I'm assuming based on your difficulty finding a trans you mean a 2002 Ram 1500 with the 5.9 gas?

There's a chance your truck still has a tag in the glove box that lists alot of the original options. If you look it should list trans model.

 

Probably the 46RE..... You can also pull a build sheet for your truck from here.

 

2002 1500 with 5.9/360 is 46RE.
