Default 2004 Ram shifting

I bought a 2004 Ram 4wd a few months ago to just haul trash in. I have replaced all the shocks and new brakes all around and some brake likes so I guess I am now invested. The idle runs high around 1200 rpm. It has gotten where it won't shift into second gear until about 4500 rpm. It also takes to 4500 rpm to shift into third. The fluid looks a little dirty so I know it needs a fluid and filter change. Idle is obviously high since it will just take off in drive pretty good with my foot off of the brake. It has the factory 4.7 engine. Any idea which tranny is in it? Gonna junk it if the tranny is about to go out. Any advice?

Trans has nothing to do with idle. Unless the TV cable is jammed up, and holding the throttle open. (IS there a tv cable? Or is yours throttle by wire??)
