Rear end overhaul
lengthy but I want to give youu as much info as possible.
I have an 04 quad cab, 4.7, 45RFE trans. I own a John deer 1025 R taractor with backhoe and loader. It weighs 3000lbs ..Truck pulls the tractor and `1ft trailer just fine. I also have a 20ft car trailer but this truck struggles pulling a car, it will do it but not great. Rear end is making a lot of noise ..needs bearings. Since I have to take it apart to fix itI am going to put a Limited slip in it. I run the stock 17 inch tires. I have seen where a lot of ya'll are putting 4:56 gears in these trucks. But I m thinking with the 17in tires this may be a little too much, maybe the 4:10 would be better.

I have 4.56 and 33" tires.... and that is definitely too much gear. 4.10's would be perfect for 33's. With smaller tires, it's improve your out-of-the-hole performance, but, a heavy trailer is a heavy trailer, and the 4.7 just ain't enough motor for a trailer and a car..... Gears will help some....
Also, rebuilding is NOT inexpensive, and you need the right tools to do it right. You can likely "rent" the tools from your local auto parts store, but, if this isn't something you have done before, I recommend doing a LOT of research first, and decide if this is something you want to try. Doing it wrong gets expensive REAL fast.
Another solution might be finding a good rear that already has the 4.10s, and just swap the entire axle. Very likely to be MUCH cheaper. You can probably get the whole rear end, for the price of just gears for yours.

I drained the fluid yestrdy and I noticed the bolt for the adjustr keeper on passanger side is broke. I for the keeper in the housing. Now I have to see how I can get this bolt out and replace it.
