Question Overheating in arctic temps

We bought a 2003 1500 base model this spring and all has been great until the polar temps in Fairbanks hit. It started off just randomly overheating. Thermostat is new. Coolant rated to -65F. TCC code was thrown and OD off light would come on occasionally during this but not all the time. Usually starts when we creep down to -20 and below. I have checked everything basic you can think of. Today, there’s no reverse. It actually wants to go forward in reverse. There’s a block heater, trans heater, battery blanket on this thing. What on earth could be going on here? As soon as it warms up? IT IS FINE! I have a Ford Flex with 428,000 miles with less issues in the cold. I need advice please.

Is the radiator actually hot or is just the engine overheating?
