Tested back through everything this weekend. Spark tests at all 8 cylinders, injectors are firing, fuel pressure stays around 50 the whole time it's trying to start. I turn the key long enough for the engine to catch and then it will run on its own as long as I press on the accelerator. But even if I keep my foot on the floor it will run for about 30 seconds total and then die out. Don't see a drop in fuel pressure when it starts to die. At no point does it really sound like it's running strong. More like a struggling boat motor.
Have a scanner that can read live data? If so, have a look at the sensors, engine off, and see if what they are telling you makes sense. If that checks out, pull the front O2 sensor(s?), see if it'll run.
I hadn't run live data with the engine off, I've recorded while trying to start so I should be able to see before and after with files I've already pulled. I'll do that. Curious about the front o2. What would that do by pulling it? I can disconnect it easily enough. A friend suggested plugging the vacuum line from the throttle body, it made a difference initially, engine would start to die and then struggle back and then start to die again before fading out. Does that tell you anything? Appreciate the replies.
I would pull the front cover and verify all timing. Cam to crank then my ignition timing. Is this a stock cam? If not I would definitely verify the timing with an actual engine degree wheel. Something is wrong and I think the codes are a red herring at this point. The other possibility that may be easier to check first is a massive vacuum leak or a bad map sensor. Also out of curiosity did you bleed the fuel system? If its been running for long enough that shouldn't be an issue but at this point trying to cover all the bases.

If the cat is clogged, you get similar symptoms, removing the front O2 gives the exhaust somewhere to go. It's loud.... but, if it runs better..... There ya go.
One of these things.. does not look like the other..
Think I've run it down team. I got sent the wrong injectors. The ones I received are orange for the 4.7, the ones on the picture when I ordered them are the black ones from the 5.9. I didn't pay any attention to the color when I got them in. I'll be making a phone call in the morning..
Was running through the setup with a race engine builder I met through a friend who also builds race engines but my friend only works with carbs.
We talked through how the fuel mix must be off and with no exhaust the o2 sensor can't tell the pcm how to mix and is probably flooding.
Then we thought we should also reach out to the guy who built the tune and check to see what PSI he built the tune for because the racers like a lot more poundage than I need and this bothered them.
So I start pulling the parts list and putting it in an email. When I pasted the link I noticed the color of the injector was different.
Went and pulled my injector, got the parts number, looked it up. Checked the order and read the link and details.. sure enough.
I expect this resolves most of the issue.. I'll tow it over and get the exhaust set up while I wait for them to make the injector mess up right.
Thoughts on how to setup a dual with an x pipe and just one upstream and one downstream o2? Preferences, things to look out for? Planning a 2.5" dual with an x pipe. Cats and mufflers.
