Default Transmission Install Question

I have a 2007 2500 4x4 with a stock 48re transmission, I am installing a remanufactured one with a deep pan and new torque converter in it. this is the first time installing an automatic so forgive me if this is a stupid question.
I got it all installed, then I was putting trans fluid in it, I had put 13qts in it, and then I saw it was leaking out from the output shaft.
My question for the transmission experts, did I just overfill it causing it to go around the output shaft seal causing the leak? or did i damage the out put shaft seal somehow when I installed the torque converter.
I pulled it back out and ordered a new seal just in case, but looking at the seal, I don't see any damage to it. the spring is still in place and the rubber seal doesn't look tore up either.
Any advise would be appreciated.

Did it leak while running? Or while filling? (was it running while filling??? )

No, I haven't started it yet, I was filling it for the first time, I wanted to get enough in the transmission before I started it. I think I should have stopped at 10 quarts and started it and checked it.

Yeah, I think that would be a good plan. Toss the new seal in, reinstall the trans, add the 10, start it up, run the shifter thru all the gears a couple times, then address fluid level to get it correct.

Yea, I hope that's it, It makes since when you think about it, I didn't compensate for the trans fluid I had in the torque converter when I started filling it.
Now I just have to wait for the darn seal to get here, I ordered it Monday and post office is saying Saturday, hopefully.
Thanks for your help.

Be sure and lube the seal and torque converter snout on installation. Don't wanna burn up the new seal on the first start.

Let us know how it goes.

Default Transmission is Installed

Well I replaced the seal, installed the transmission and no leaks,
My only issue right now, when I shift from like drive to reverse or park, I like have to find the spot.
From what i can gather, it's might be the throttle valve Actuator. I was having issues that this can cause with my old transmission, so I ordered one. We will see if it takes care of the problem.

You have to wiggle the shifter to get it to go into gear? Or something else?

Yea sorta, like today when I got to work, I put it in reverse and it was really in neutral but my shifter said reverse. I put in neutral and reverse again, then it was fine.
After work, when I put it in park, it was in park but wasn’t lit up until I wiggled the shifter a bit. Then it lit up.

Check the shift linkage for slop. May also need to be adjusted a bit.
