bad vibration going above 40+ mph
i recently had my u joint snap on me and the rear driveshaft fell out. bought a different driveshaft off a parts truck and put new u joints in.
before the u joint snapped the truck would have the same vibration when driving, the previous night i was going 90 mph throughout the county in the night the notice it started the vibrating when i got close to home.
but anyway, i got the new ujoints in and parts driveshaft in but its got a decent size dent in the middle of it, im just wondering what else could be the cause of the vibration. i thought could it be the yokes but a local mechanic from a shop said they are good and just needed the ujoints and driveshaft. just want to know other causes. Its a 2006 dodge ram 1500 4x4.

thru the seat and some in the wheel. it doesnt get worse just stays the same.
Have you checked your tires? Could be a possible ply separation just starting to show up.
Usually can just run the palm of your hand over the face of the tread and feel for a bubble or loose detached rubber.
Just one possibility.
Also might try putting it on jack stands and let the rear axle spin in gear at idle .... check for a bent wheel or a loose axle bearing.
How much backlash in the pinion?
Also jack up the front wheels one at a time and check for bad bearings or something loose.
Just a couple of ideas to check, maybe something will show up.
