Default Hughes air gap intake

What’s up fellas? And maybe a few ladies. I’m thinking about getting the air gap from Hughes. I want to keep the EFI. And add the big gulp. I have the EQ heads and I’m trying to figure out cam specs at the moment. But the price is outrageous at $850. There are some knock offs on eBay that seem to be real similar. Has anyone used one and is it worth the savings? Thanks

Ouch. Them fellers have gotten expensive...... Problem is, options are extremely limited.... so they can charge what they want for them. Gotta link to one of the 'off brand' manifolds?

That's because it's the whole kit; manifold, gaskets, miscellaneous pieces and necessary adapters. Not to mention the work necessary to modify what started life as a carb manifold to directly replace an OEM manifold.

Last time I looked, (it's been a minute.....) the kits were in the 600 dollar range, complete with gaskets, and the stuff to adapt the fuel rails.

I’m finding these on eBay. It says it’s for the magnum 360s. It doesn’t have all the extra parts but I could source those somewhere else. I just realized it doesn’t have the ports for the fuel injection either. I just can’t see spending that much on an intake that only gains 20 to 30 hp. It doesn’t seem to be much of a. Selection for this part. I have a modified kegger right now. And I noticed a big difference when I did that.

They are cheap enough, wonder how much it would be have it drilled, and bungs welded in for injectors......

I ran a modifed kegger on my 5.9, I lost a little bit of low end, but, opened up the power band noticeably. Doing the timing chain and gears made the biggest difference in how it ran though.

What size valves in your heads?

You didn't read the description very well. It only lists compatibility with LA small blocks. That one is not only carb only, but it it doesn't list who actually MADE the manifold (which is important) plus it is drilled for both intake bolt patterns, which I'm not fond of. LA bolt pattern is angled, the magnum pattern is straight up & down.

It looks like a knock off of the Edlebrock.

Have a look in the second gen section i know there are several post about this. This one is for a carb and it's a duel plane not an single plane (open design) like the air gap.
