Mega Cab that mega leaks
[:@] Has anyone had any problems with the rear window leaking water. I just purchased a 06 Mega Cab a couple of months ago that leaks like a sinking ship. I first noticed that I had water coming in from the top of my rear window. I took it in that the service rep told me that they have been seeing that with a lot of the newer models. She said that they didn't know if it was installed incorrectly or a design flaw. Well they replaced the entire window last week and it rained 2 days later and the bottom of my truck was soaked. I'm just talking about a wet spot, it was drenced. Needless to say I was a little angry so after my shift at work I drove to service dept. They told me that it shouldn't be leaking, well duh. So now they have to replace all the flooring, padding and find the leak. Has anyone here had or heard of a similar episode? And I've heard of a test that they can use radio waves to detect leaks in a vehicle. Has anyone heard of that?
Does it leak the same or worse than before the dealer attempted to fix the leak? There is nothing wrong with the design of your vehicle. It would never have passed vehicle validation if Chrysler could not fix a water leak, and besides, the cab back is the same design as the Regular and Quad Cab units. The factory has to water test 100% of the vehicles produced until they can prove they can reliably build a vehicle that does not leak. Can the dealer reproduce the water leak in their shop? This is usually the key to finding the leak, and fixing it the first time. Better dealers will use what is called a Borescope to find the leak, ask yours how the determined the leak was coming from the back glass, and not from a sealer skip where the roof panel meets the side door opening panels?
I USED TO HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM WITH MY 99 DAK R/T. TURNED OUT TO BE AN IMPROPERLY PLACED 3RD BRAKE LIGHT GASKET. IT USED TO LOOK LIKE IT CAME FROM THE REAR WINDOW, BUT WHEN THE HEADLINE STARTED TO DISCOLOR, THE PROBLEM GAVE ITSELF UP.
The leak is much worse than before. They have the leak expert coming tomorrow to determine where it's getting in. I'll ask them what test they used to find it. BTW What's Borescope?
I had the same thing happen in my '04,it turned out to be the seam at the back of the cab had no selant from the factory, the dealer pulled the bed,re-sealed the seam, and I have had no probs at all since then.I was told it was the rear window also, had that replaced along with the carpet and padding, second trip in for the leak they had to do it all over again!
a borescope is a small fiber optic camera for looking into small or hard to reach places!

My 05 did that the day I bought it. The brake light gasket was screwed up, I left the lot got up the road and my son said, "Dad Im getting wet"
So I turned around went back and said "I want my money back" LOL
They gave me a Grand Prix to drive for a day while they fixed the gasket. LOL.
Oh well 10k miles later no problems. Plus I only paid 22500 for the truck so I couldnt realy complain.
