Magnaflow ?
I just had a Magnaflow exhaust system installed. Could not handle the Flowmaster drone after 2 days. There is a funny smell coming from the exhaust, almost melted plastic like. Is this the Glasspacking from inside the muffler until it breaks in. It is only 2 days Old. Any Ideas?
P.S. I went under the truck to make sure the pipes are not touching the spare tire or any other under carriage components.

From what I understand, this is normal. The smell is the remaining residue from the manufacturing process being burned off from inside the muffler. I would give it a week and it should be gone.
That smell is totaly normal and as another said burns off within about a week. How do you like your magnaflow compared to the FM ? I had a 5X8 Magnaflow on my Dakota and thought it sounded great (but as mentioned in another thread just a bit too small for a Hemi)....
I love the Magnaflow. It has a good rumble that turns heads when you accelerate but no In Cab Resonance. You can hear some noise but nothing like the Flowmaster. Flowmaster is essentially an empty tin can with sound deflectors. the Maganaflow has Sound Absorbing elements, so you can ride in comfort without pissing off the wife. I could not be happier I made the switch. Especially with all the stop and go driving I do.
What model number did you guy's have installed?
I'm looking to put in an exhaust, and the flowmasters are just too much. My buddy hass it on his Ram, and I feel sorry for his kids when the sit in the back cab. I'm looking for something that deosn't cuase my kids to go deaf, and just that little extra something that you can here (a nice low rumble).

I don't remember the part number. The guy kept the box, but I do know it is 5 x 8 and is about 18 inches long. I think it will sound like what you are looking for. If I was 23 again maybe I would have kept the Flowmaster but as it is the neighbors hate me for the pipes I have on my motorcycle. But when I am on the bike, I say Screw the neighbors. I have to listen to their bratty kids playing in front of my house all afternoon. But I digress. I think you will love the Magnaflow.

If you've got a Hemi I'd suggest the Magnaflow Part # 12589 (http://www.magnaflow.com/02product/s...ne=main&id=483)
For the 4.7 the Magnaflow Part # 12256 (http://www.magnaflow.com/02product/s...ne=main&id=460) is pretty popular....
If you go to have one installed dependent on what you want make sure to tell the shop what you want, otherwise they will just find a Magnaflow (or FM or whatever brand your after) that is in stock and will fit and slap it on....
