Default K&N products

Will just dropping a K&N air filter help my truck with gas or power? How much benefit from a Cold Air Intake will I get and how much do they cost? Any other engine mods I could for help with gas and power?

You won't be able to notice a difference. K&N says you will get a 7-8 HP increase from a CAI. All you will hear is a louder sound coming from the intake. This sound will cost you around $350. It does dress your engine up a bit though. If you want serious power, go for a supercharger. If you want medium power, go for a Superchip. If you want something that will make your friends say "Damn!", go for a flowmaster. (and a supercharger)

That's "ludacris" i mean really, how many people on here have $ for a supercharger??? That is the gayest response ever...why not just buy an airplane? I got a K&N intake and although i do NOT think it helps with gas milage, i think it does improve horsepower...it says it will give you 10.49 extra HP, while that might not be true, it HAS HAS HAS to increase it somewhat....it's called airflow...go to www.howstuffworks.com and look up engines and how they work...other things one can do to increase performance are: (while some are still expensive, all of these are CREATED to improve performance) high-performance plugs/wires, new smaller pulleys, performance tuner, such as the 3815 flashpaq programmer, getting your engine ported and polished, getting bigger pistons, changing gearing in the tranny, and getting a duel/high flow exhaust...and ALL of these are cheaper than a supercharger, while it is still the best upgrade, who on here has $5,000 for one? and who can install it themself? and if not who can afford the $5,000 and afford to get it installed??? not i, and not 95% of the people on here probably...be realistic next time and REALLY try to help a fellow dodge forum member out...like you can go to Toys-R-Us and get a s/c for $28... "pimpin im so fly, take this parachute off i might fall and die" don't take anything i just said too hard...i'm just giving my 2 cents like others on here toodles~

get the airaid MIT jr kit. I comes with a filter and a tube to run from stock air box to throttle body. Makes a great noise and gives some hp. Plus you can still use your airbox since it was designed to draw air from the coolest place in the engine bay. Best of both worlds and half the price of an intake. That is my take on it. autocom.com or ebay has the best price.

the "kn" image is a very interesting novalty
Here are my thoughts which I've shared to many.
an air cleaner is to allow an engineered amount of air to pass thru at a certain velocity for any engine speed.
If you want more air since you plan to operate at very high engine speeds or have other flow inhancement products, just add more surface area, don't enlarge the size of the holes to let dirt in. Think about it for awhile ' just add air, not dirt.

If you don't enjoy changing your own oil, rotating tires or handling all the other minimal mantenance items, you may not injoy reoiling the damn air filter, but say your a brute for punishment, have extra money to send to K#N and don't mind a little dirt in the engine, rush out today and by an air filter you can hold up to the light and see thru!

One last comment: marketing is everything....................

you can get a 6x12 Fram at Walmart that will flow more than you'll ever need and not allow dirt in, and get all the extra power even no air filter can provide

granted it won't be as cool as being able to say you own the great K&N, but let's face it, a lot of folks look fast, but very few go fast, is the risk worth it?

Don't forget the marketing thought.

Tamuccmike, he asked what will give him more power? A supercharger does. Sure, none of us have the money, but he might be the 1% that does. So before you go personally attacking me, stop and think about all the things you said. Are you actually going to be able to feel a 10.49 HP gain. Highly unlikely. And while you are pondering that question, add up the cost of everything you reccommended. Port and polish, a bore job, a tuner, new gears, and all the cost to have someone do all of the work. If you have the mechanical knowledge and highly advanced garage to do all that yourself, you have the mechanical knowledge to install a supercharger. (something that isn't the most difficult thing in the world, i've installed one.)

So why don't you try to grow up and keep your irrelevent opinions of what I say out of your next post.

I use true flow and it has worked well, I have noticed better throttle response but that is about it. No mpg gain still at 14-15 mpg (04 quad cab Hemi)

Alot of the programmers out there have a highway option on them. Some say they will give you about 17-18 MPG on the highway. Look into the Superchip or Hypertech website. You can also search this forum for peoples opinions on those programmers. But remember, the highway setting will increase your MPG, but will also decrease you power/ get-up-and-go.
