Default bouncing

well i noticed this a while ago it only seems to happen when i have my tailgate up. it feels like my rear end is bouncing up and down like im going over a ****load of mini speed bumps, and it doesnt stop till i slow down to under 20 MPH. The whole frigging truck like flexes, sort of like if you take a pencil and bend it then bend it the other way, know do it like 50 times a min. I accually sort of bounce in my seat thats how much it bounces. Anyone else have this problem, is it normal? doesnt doo it all the time though.

Very common problem over bad roads. Just add some weight to the back of your truck by putting in some bags of sand from Home Depot. 200 pounds should do it. Or you can add a hard tonneau cover.

You also may want to check that the tires haven't lost a balance weight, and the none of the shocks have lost their seal. Does the truck do this all the time regardless of road conditions??----maybe a bent wheel??

OK, yes check your shocks and wheel/tires. Something is not right. I thought you meant it bounced a little over bad roads. If it is bad as described, something is not right. My truck is fairly smooth over all but the crappiest roads. Then it feels like a pogo stick with a mind of its own

clamsjager, the only other possibility I can think of is a bent axle. I realize this is probably remote, but it is easy to check. You also might try suspending the rear axle from the body by using two floor jacks, then start up the truck, put it in gear with your foot on the brake at first, so it doesn't JUMP into gear, then slowly roll the rpm's up. This usually shows an imbalance or bent "something" fairly quick.

My truck does this occasionally as well. I have a quad cab long bed and I figured it must have something to do with the distance between the front and rear wheels. That doesn't make it okay though. I have considered replacing the shocks to see if that would help.
