My buddy has it in his Chevy Colorado. Every station I've heard on it comes in loud and clear. It really sounds good. I'm impressed....

Mine sounded like that when I was using the FM modulator. Now that I'm connected directly, it sounds maybe a little better than an FM station, but not nearly as good as a CD. According to what I've read on the sat radio forums that about as good as you can expect. Even though it's a digital signal the quality still suffers from bandwidth issues.

I have both xm and sirius units and my sirius cuts out under trees and my xm doesn't. I am in the central florida are. Where are the rest of you that have bad sound. I am thinking inferior technology to xm or something to do with the satelites position. I have a roady and a xact visor and I do get cd sound quality with my direct connection to the cd changer port on my factory radio.

Just some info, there are only 2 or 3 satellites in orbit for satellite radio right now....compared to like 20+ for GPS antenna's. Satellite radio uses many repeater towers for coverage. Meaning that in a couple of years, the sound will improve greatly because of greater signal strength.....ie less dropout under dense foliage and tall buildings.

It's my understanding XM uses ground repeaters but Sirius does not. However, since it's a digital signal, the "canned sound" has nothing to do with signal strength.
