Everything I've read and heard is that the MDS Hemi's aren't getting much better gas mileage than the regular ones. The MDS never kicks in around town so the city MPG is the same and I've read that the MDS kicks off somewhere between 65 and 70 mph, and who highway cruises at less than 65 mph?

The question I always had about MDS is, when it kicks in does the engine have to increase RPM's slightly to make the same power since you're losing half the cylinders?

Nevermind I thought about how the system would have to work some more and answered my own question. It would turn at the same RPM's but the fuel air ratio might have to be a little richer to make the necessary power.

I have noticed that when it kicks in when i am cruising @ 65mph the rpm's drop from 2000 to 1700. If i have the cruise control set to 65 and reset the mpg computer after a 15 mile drive it reads 20.1 to 20.8 mpg's but as soon as i accelerate to 75 it drops all the way down to 15-16!

No can do in earlier models. In 06 you can get Hemi with or without.
