Default 2007 Tundra = 2002 Ram

Toyota has unveiled the new Tundra pickup, and I swear I've seen it somewhere before. Take a look at these pics (click)...

I swear if they put the Ram grill (back) on I wouldn't even blink twice. Toyota is even putting a new 5.7L iForce V8 in it, along with their 4.7L as another option.

toyota's V-8's have always been lacking in the area of power. rather ball-less to put it better.

makes me wonder what this larger displacement engine will do for them.

This does look very similar to the Ram.

Personally, I really like the styling of the interior. I wish Dodge would make a true center console as an available option. And I really like the cupholders in the rear door pockets.

That rear end looks kind of weak. Drew, don't Toyos have a weak rear?

the rear of that truck looks to have the same rear my tacoma has

anyway, toyota's rear ends arent known for being stout, but they arent all that bad either. even the Nissan Titan has a rear diff that is about the same size as the toyota.

the most I ever put in my yoda was 800 pounds of lumber, I did bend the leaf springs a bit[&:] but the truck held up ok

Could the toy rear end be any worse than the one in our trucks?

I agree with you Drew. But, I think Toyota has taken notice to all the attention of the Titan V8. I'd expect the 5.7L I Force to be right at the spec's of the Hemi, Vortec Max by GM, etc.

In reading the article, Toyota said they wanted this truck to be a true American pickup. I think it's ugly (but so is the Titan), so I imagine more performance out of this V8 than their previous ones. Plus, if they are going to tow 10,000 lbs, they'll need torque similar to Ford, Chevy, Nissan, and Dodge. The funny part will be when Tundra loyalists realize their new V8 will not even come close to the fuel efficiency of the 4.7.

My question, when is Dodge going to give the Hemi a little more power from the 5.7? I know about the 6.1, and it's awesome, but it shouldn't go in a daily work truck.

Oh, one more thing. Should we take bets now or later that this Tundra wipes the floor with the Titan in terms of refinement, sales, and reliability???

I just traded my 05 Tundra 4x4 for my 04 Ram 1500 4x4 plus cash. Both have the same 4.7 displacement and the Tundra would spank the Ram from any kind of a speed contest. The 05 Tundra hp was upped to 280 in '05, while the Ram is rated at 235 I believe. Their 5.7 will do just fine I'm sure.

The 5.7 will kick the crap out of the IForce 4.7. However, this new Tundra will have a 5.7 with spec's closer to the Hemi. I don't think the new Tundra will automatically sell 300,000 a year, but its going to put A LOT of pressure on Nissan.

I think it's fair to say Titan owners are not loyal to the Big 3. If they were, they'd be driving Dodge, Ford, or Chevy. In other words, they' be more prone to switch from their trucks than we would. If Nissan is selling 90,000 a year, expect that number to drop when the Tundra hits the market. Why? Because those with no brand loyalty will switch over to this truck before a die hard Ford, Chevy, or Dodge owner would. Considering the Titan has only been out 3 years, I'd say they have the least brand loyalty among truck owners.

I'm a Dodge man, but if I had to choose between a Silverado, Titan, F150 or new Tundra, I'd take the Toyota.
