Stop The Odometer Must Read!!!!!
I am a new dodge man, came from driving a ford and i work for gm so i know nothing about dodge trucks. i have an 06 1500 ram and i heard that there is a way to kill the odometer so it wont count miles by turning the key back just a little click while the truck is running. ive tried and i can no get it too work. Anyone know about this and if you do what is the trick to getting it too work. "madman"

It's because of people like you that carfax and other websites like it were created. Thank you for trying to screw me and every other used car buyer out there. You'll get what's coming to you someday.
And I think I speak for everyone on this forum when I say, "Go back to Ford!"

Jeez.....everybody needs to take a chill pill....LOL.
OK now...for a serious answer. I really don't know if there's a way to stop the odometer, but there's no point to doing it. With all the computer controls and stuff they have, they can just hook up the computer and it tells that more information than you can even imagine. Everything from the actual mileage, to how often it was at a certain speed...literally anythign and everything. My father used to just disconnect the wiring fromt eh back of the dashboard on his vehicles, but even he doesn't do that anymore. There really is no point to it.

RE: Stop The Odometer Must Read!!!!!
A friend of mine had a GMC Sonoma P/U. I discovered from another friend who had an Extreme S10 that by simply popping a fuse you could diable the dash power and the odometer. Being that his GMC was a lease vehicle he practiced listening to the motor and was able to tell how fast he was going from engine noise and what gear he was in. He unhooked the fuse everytime he took his GMC to school in North Carolina and back, therefore, keeping aprox 1,600 miles off the clock each round trip. This trick saved his lease. If the dealer would have said anything I told him just to claim a blown fuse and plead ignorrance. Oh yeah, he is now a lawyer and he works for the supreme court of North Carolina. Gotta do what you gotta do.
