Just had a laugh on the V6 forum
I bought an 05 sc and it has a 4.7L its nowhere close to an SLT. When I bought the truck I didnt want that fancy stuff but I did want a V8 and cruise control... Dont let the 4.7L fool you it is quite peppy and in a single cab truck outstanding power.
i got a V6 and only reason i would do ne so called performance mods is for more mpg. as everyone can tell im more for looks then power. i got 117 pounds on each corner of my truck (rims and tires) dropped soon to be over 8000 watts. looking for air ride but i dont think i can do it so ima just stick to milds mods and drive it daily and build something else. right now im shoping around for a exhaust. scares the **** out of me buyin one i knows its not going to sound good but the one i got ina sounding like **** and fallin off and the shops around here wont work with me. so basicly im looking at a magnaflow cat back and calling it good and then bck to looks mods. also i sorta got a good deal on this thing 9 grand for a 02 with 36,000 miles great shape 7 months ago plus i got 7 trade in so basicly gave 2 grand for this truck.
You guys all kill me and make me chuckle about more power. I have an 03 hemi 4x4 qc. She get's up pretty good. Not quite as quick as the 2 wheelers, but still good. I will never do anything for more power. When I want to go fast, I step to the garage and fire up the CBR954RR. Now that's fast. And she's only got around 130 hp.
v6 trucks have their place and so do the v8's. neither truck was made to race IMHO. I dunno, maybe I am wasting my time with this, but if you need a work vehicle you buy a truck, if you just want to go fast you buy a hotrod or a bike.

I could say the same thing about a V6, "I have no problem passing an 85 Silverado, my truck doesn't slow down when I go up a hill with the AC on, I can drive over a curb without ripping my differential apart, if I put an exhaust on my truck it doesn't sound like a fart can" But then again, I know why people buy V6's, they want something economical, might not need the power, or they may be low on cash. But I'd never make it seem like I bought one because the better engine and truck "has so many mechanical problems"

count me in as a whiner about more horsepower. the irony is i have a v8, but no hemi. i dont know why the 4.7l is only 20 more hp. that's a slap-in-the-face! wish my dealership had a hemi at the time i was ready to buy. *sigh* now i got to wait until i get out of college before i am finally able to buy a new truck (havent started college yet). so heres to five-six years of hating my engine *downs some liquor*
