One thing I can say that is the finance manager that told me about it said his boss and a few sales people tried it and it works. He's my wife's cousin, so I know he wouldn't try to steer me wrong.
My experience is that most people in the finance and sales departments of car dealerships don't really know anything about cars. Quite frequently when I was looking to buy a car I would walk into a dealership know a whole lot more about a car that I was looking at than the guy trying to sell it to me. Every now and then I run across someone who does know alot about cars and they REALLY know alot about cars but it is rare. Remember the finance and sales guys don't really have to know much about the cars they just have to know how to sell them. The general public doesn't know squat about cars or how they work. The extent of sales people's knowledge usually stops with basic performance specs like HP and gas mileage and knowing about the options packages available.

Also alot of people I know buy stuff because it is marketed to do this or improve that about their home or car. Most of the time they never actually try to track any improvement. They will say yeah I bought such and such and I get better gas mileage and they may even give you a number but if you ask about it further you will find that they don't ever track mileage between fill ups so how could they possibly know for sure if there was any improvement?

I guess it is just the engineer in me but I need to see the data.

The only magnet you need is the one for the oil pan plug to see if metal is showing up in the oil. Other than that its all crap. you could also epoxy one onto the oil filter. As for increasing power and fuel economy it is possible. A current engine is 55-65 % effective in fuel consumption. Meaning that almost half the gas you put in comes out your tailpipe. Without major overhaul and changes I have no idea how to make it better other than an exhaust powered Turbo.

sounds like crap to me too ... everyone knows you can't save gas AND improve horsepower ... those two things just don't go hand in hand ... to make more power you need more fuel ... ask anyone who has modded their vehicle for more power and they'll tell you that the more power they made the worse their mileage got ... i could be wrong but this is the way i have always understood it
I believe K&N makes air filters and intake manifolds that can gain horses and save on fuel. I have never tried them for myself, but I would believe that freeflow of air can easily improve gas economy and with your motor bein' happy, could give out a few more ponies. I don't know about the magnets though. I don't see how they would really do anythin'.

Your forgot the #1 MPG/Horsepower improvers man. STICKERS! I hear the Calvin pissing on a Chevy logo is worth 2-3MPG city
