New pinion factor, cruise wont work?
I have a 05 Ram 1500 4x4 with the Hemi. I just had 35” tires and 4.56 gears installed. I took it to my dealer to have my pinion factor changed to correct the speedometer for the larger tires. After I picked it up I noticed that the cruse will not work over 45 mph. I took it back and they said that there is nothing they can do to make it work right with the tires and gear I am running. Has anyone heard of this before or do they just not know what they are doing?[:@]
The dealer is not all-knowing. Ask aanother dealership or another technician. My local dealer tried to tell me I don't have a battery temp. sensor after the OBD threw that code.
I know a guy that had the EXACT same problem. The dealership told him the exact same thing.
I took my cue from him and i just deal with the speedo being a few miles off. Other than that i don't have any problems. I used my GPS to see exactly how much i was off at various speeds and just sort of calculate it without even thinking now.

I had the dealer put it back to stock, and the cruise works fine. I got up to 80 mph (88 mph GPS) and the cruise work fine. My speedometer is just once again off by 10%. I just dont understand how a 10% correction to the pinion factor would cut my cruise down to 45 mph max? Dont people get there pinion factors changed everyday to make up for different tire sizes?
So how much are they charging to make this change and then you have to go back to re-change it back to stock?? are they forgeting about the C/control settings? or there is no way to change that???
Your dealer is only changing the tire size in the abs controller. It has to be changed also in either the engine or trans. controller. I ran into this problem about a month ago and can't remember what other controller it is.

Well I ordered the Superchips Flashpaq to correct my speedometer, and guess what, once corrected, my cruise wont work over 45 mph. Has anyone successfully corrected there speedometer without having cruise issues on this year truck? If so, how? I need to know exactly so I can instruct my dealer cause he is lost.
Superlift makes a spedo calibration unit. I would check into that.

Super Lift stuff stinks!! Just kidding, I live about 10 miles from Super Lift and friends with many of the guys over there. I am familiar with the Super Lift unit, I just shy away from cutting and splicing wires on my truck. Although I may have to go that route if all else fails.
I talked to SuperChips this morning and they informed me that they were aware of the problem and should have an update for the FlashPaq ready to download by the end of the month. They also told me that that same update would give you the ability to change shift points.
