Yes there is no question that the 5.7L would do more with the same mods... BUT most people with the 5.7L think its already the fasted thing in the world... so when a SMALLER 4.7L/4.6L with mods pulles up to the unexpecting STOCK 5.7L owner ...GAME OVER.

But I agree that a modded 5.7L would run circles around a modded 4.7L... Up untill it tossed a lifter. Then of course the 4.7L would hand the 5.7L its azzz...LOL

With out knowing exactly what mods that kid has we may never know the truth... but I would not just say he is full of it because he has a 4.6L... If he has the right mods he 4.6L can run real hard and beat the mighty HEMI!

I hear ya, I know some Hemi guys that talk crap all day long. As far as small block V8's, I think it is the best on the market. I don't really like comparing modded vehicles to stock - or modded to modded. Once that happens, the comparison between engineering ends, and pocket book begins. Not that I haven't, or wouldn't, do things to improve the performance of my truck. But, I think stock to stock is the best way to compare who makes a better engine.

In all honesty, a 345 hp truck that weighs 5500 lbs can only go so fast. There are plenty of other vehicles that are quicker, handle better, etc. But comparing 5500 lb trucks, I think the Hemi is the way to go.

 

well im sorry to admit i had the identical setup on my f-150 ,4.6 ,3.55 ,33 inch tires and i can tell you with the 3.55 and the 4.6 i couldnt break the tires loose unless wet or going around a corner and then add 33 tires and u cant do any thing i mean any thing

but thankfully traded to dodge, i know a couple of guyes like that ,they are the same people gettin 25mpg on a hemi??

i don't think any of us claim 25MPG in our trucks...

my overhead console showed 24.6 at one point... but i was on the highway doing exactly the speed limit, and going down a hill... once things flattened out, and 750km later... i was truly getting about 20MPG...

 

You can put 4:56s in a 78 diplomat with a sleepy six(slant 6) and take a lot of stuff within 60ft. I would hate to drive it on a daily basis though.

I would have to see it to believe it. Maybe Nitrous would help the 4.6. I had one in an Expedition, it was a TURD. I then got the wife a 5.4 Expedition, it was a TURD too. Now she is in a G35 -Not a TURD.

 

There is no way, they aren't even close! It's like racing a Pinto against a McLaren (or a ford against a dodge, lol), to further knock the ford boys, i saw a Hemi ram quad cab toast an SVT lightning, don't know what the hemi had for upgrades if any, but it was still sweet!

 

Those guys are nuts. Definitely living in Ford dream world. We should join and help the guy representing the Hemis.

 

It must have had MASSIVE upgrades... I raced a 1990-something Ford Lightning... It had a quad in the back... And it still destroyed me...
