I'm also looking at an '03 4x4 QC with the 5.9L even though it's a serious loss in HP... what kind of mileage do you get with the 4.7?
I'd opt for the Hemi as you get the newer and (hopefully) more reliable 545-RFE 5sp tranny. Why stick with the older engine tranny when you can have the Hemi with better tranny. The 5.9 is no dog, though, it is super reliable and can be built to make serious HP.

I'd opt for the Hemi as you get the newer and (hopefully) more reliable 545-RFE 5sp tranny. The only problems reported with the 545-RFE has been simple fixes, such as solenoids. Haven't heard of any DF members with a prematurely rebuilt 545-RFE. Why stick with the older engine tranny when you can have the Hemi with better tranny? The 5.9 is no dog, though, it is super reliable and can be built to make serious HP, I'd worry more about the older 46RFE tranny. It can be reliable (with routine maintenance), but just too many reported problems when compared to the Hemi/545-RFE combo.
I got an 04 1500 HEMI, only stalled once, but I had JUST started it and slammed on the gas, had to get away fast, long story. There has been a problem with the ABS controller, but its an easy fix from the dealer. Water gets in the controller, makes your gauges die and idiot lights come on, but no change in performance. Dealer pulls the wires, dries them, packs it with dialectic grease, no more problem. Go for the HEMI.
I didn't run into a stalling problem until AFTER I added my superchip. It stalls only when im going to slow and turning the wheel all the way, I think the power steering kills it, it does it ofetn, I know the cause so im not worried about it.
