I understand what you are saying, it would surley be an uphill battle trying to sue the manufacturer. My concern is that if there is a defect, it might not surface until enough accidents bring this someones attention. This particular crash had such a rear impact that seven additional vehicles were involved in front. Both my parents had their seatbelts on, my dads injuries were caused by blunt force trauma to the chest - steering wheel. I'm thinking of having the vehicle examined by experts to determine if the sensors were triggered or not. I have been told most GM cars have a "Black Box" but I'm not sure about Dodge.

I had a small accident in Jan and was also wondering why the airbag did not deploy, my wife and I were driving back to the house at night and I was going about 45-50 mph when I dont know how I hit a wood telephone post, we were not wearing our seat belts since we live in a small town and were driving from a friends house 1.5 mi away ( I know you should always wear your seat belt ) but the fact is the airbags did not deploy, the hit was hard enough to knock the post down to the ground, I had to replace the front bumper and spioler (tough truck). My deduction is it doesent matter if you are wearing your S. Belt or not I think there is an impact strength sensor that determines air bag deployment. ( this saved me from having to buy new airbags)

Thursday hit a wall head on,on the interstate at over 55mph, after a truck came into my lane causing me to lose controll, no air bag deployment, truck started up, backed out of wall and drove onto the wrecker, i really wonder if these trucks have airbags, this is my second frontal collison with 2005 ram's both over 50mph no air bag on either.

Sorry for you tragic Loss! I'm sure you are aware that Dodge DID have a recall back in October 06' the had something to do with the "Airbags" and their deployment.
I had just purchased a Ram 1500 QC and they wouldn't let me take delivery until the recall was repaired (which took 2 weeks for the dealer to obtain the replacement parts from DC).
Good luck! If I was in your shoes, I would want answers on the Airbag deployment (or lack of)......
Get yourself a good lawyer! Those bags should have blown upon impact!

First let me send my condolences to you and the rest of your family for the tragic loss of your father.

I know in the owners manual for my 06 CTD, there is a "black box" that DC can pull readings off of after a severe impact.

While I admire your efforts to investigate if faulty air bags were the cause of your fathers injuries that lead to his death, I am willing to bet legal console will ask to first go after the person that was at fault for the accident. Have you consulted an attourney yet? That would prob be the best first step.
