Using the gallons used by miles driven at fill up method. I get 14.8 city and on a 240 mile hi-way trip right at 16 mpg, with 1200 miles on the clock.

It's paying me back the instal costs, real quick.

The only reported mpg saving is in the 45-55 mph range. When you get to highway speeds, the truck needs more than 4 cylinders to maintain that speed so the MDS isn't working. The MDS is great in theory, but just not practical on a full size truck. It probably has more to do with the fact that making one Hemi engine with the MDS is more cost effective for the plant than making 2 seperate Hemi configurations.

The problem with that theory is that they still make the non MDS Hemi for 2500 and 3500 Rams. If it adds 1 MPG it is worth it IMO its a small step, but the US needs to cut fuel consumption as a whole, every little bit helps.

Funny thing is none of the 2006 Heavy Duty 2500/3500 Rams come with MDS. My dealer said they probably never will.
Can a 1500 Ram be ordered with a Hemi without MDS??
