2006 Ram 4x4 With The Hemi - Gas Mileage?
Hi Guys! I was just curious....for those of you who have a 4x4 QC 2006 with the Hemi and the MDS system - what are you getting mileage wise?? We have a '06 300C with the MDS and it does a lot better than my truck (see sig) If something happens to mine or I decide to get rid of it I was interested in getting an '06, but I would like some real mileage numbers first - not the b.s. thats on the sticker. Thank You!

The only reported mpg saving is in the 45-55 mph range. When you get to highway speeds, the truck needs more than 4 cylinders to maintain that speed so the MDS isn't working. The MDS is great in theory, but just not practical on a full size truck. It probably has more to do with the fact that making one Hemi engine with the MDS is more cost effective for the plant than making 2 seperate Hemi configurations.

The only thing I can say for sure is that now I have more miles on my truck, it gets better gas mileage and it feels like it has more power, if I drive mine and a new one back to back.
I drove a 130 mile round trip on the highway the other day. At a sustained 75mph using the cruise, the overhead said I got 18.6 mpg. Usually a little optomistic, but normally within 1 mpg, so I consider that to be pretty good.
