Hey Grayghost, DO you or any one on here have a picture of a STOCK ram QC with some 265/70/17 tires, I have the stock 245/70/17s and I want to see what it looks like a tad bigger

Thank you
Check out my pics and you'll see the stockers on my truck in the 265/70/R17 size.

Hey GreyGhost,
Do your 285s rub AT ALL from turning or any type of bumps or humps, I like the 285/70/17 look with the front end leveled though

Thanks

Cableguy, The 285's are no problem at all on my truck. No rubbing at full turn (even on the front, not leveled), much better handling with the wider tread. I put the AT's on mine as well so the traction has vastly improved! Take a look at my gallery. I plan on putting better pics up soon when the weather clears up and I get a chance.

Thank you. There isn't that much of a difference. It is about a 1" taller and 1" wider. If you need new tires, perhaps you should look at the 285/70/R17 as mentioned. Don't forget that you'll lose some low end because of the effective gearing change and your speedo will be off by a bit. You can go to tire rack and play with the sizing to see what the difference in height/width for a given tire.

My 2006 Ram 2500HD 4x4 came with BF Goodrich on/off road 265/70/17 E rated tires. They are 31.6" tall.
The PowerWagon comes with BF Goodrich on/off road 285/70/17 D rated tires. They are 32.7" tall. Both really get the job done on and off the road

As far as the speedo change with the bigger tires, I'm sure there's a small change but it's nothing noticeable to be honest with you. You can always take it in to the dealership and have them reprogram. Osteodoc brought up another good thing to be concerned with also (gearing). I hear alot of people complaining about lack of low end on their trucks. I have the 5 speed manual that makes up for alot of the lost power though so that's not really a problem either. Depending on what gears your truck has (3:55, 3:92, 4:10 etc..) you may or may not notice any change.

I wouldn't think twice about the tire upgrade, it's definitely made my truck better! Go for it!
