Oil Change

Cool cool. I could have googled that, but I'm feeling a little lazy today.
I know I just changed my oil and it took 7 litres.

What's a quart?
Is that basically the same thing as a Litre?

In my past experience there is only a 5-7 dollar difference from me changing my own oil and letting the dealer. I let the dealer do it so there is no mess, not to mention the dealer gives a free wash everytime. So, in the long run I am actually saving money.
the dealer i got my truck from does free washes too. anytime actually. if you bought your vehicle there, you could theoretically stop by every day and let them clean it up. also... i've always changed my own oil, there's no sense in paying somebody to do something that is so easy and takes so little time, HOWEVER, i recently started going to a local Midas shop. $12.99 for a 5 quart w/ filter change. they've never charged me for the additional oil i need, and it's practically cheaper than what i would do it myself for. plus it's right down the street, so why not.. i let them do it now.
What kind of info do you need for an oil change.
Drian the oil, put the drain plug back in, pull off the filter, put a new one on. Add oil and you're done.
If you need info for this maybe you should have someone else do it for you.

Its not because changing the oil is complicated, its the blatant "you should be taking it to the dealer" ploy that irritates me.
Reminds me to check in advance to see if they tell you how to replace the head lights. I owned a Honda Civic once that had aboslutley no information about the head lights in the owners manual. I took me an hour to figure it out the first time, but it was actually the easiest car to replace a light I had ever owned.

I have an 04, and while the manual doesn't give detailed instructions on how to change the oil, it does list recommended oil types and viscosities and capacities (albeit in a separate section). Plus it does have instructions on how to change the headlights...don't know about the '06 manual though.
I think they intend for the owners manual to be more of an operational guide. If they get too deep mechanically, they'll never get the casual driver to read it. If you do a search on past threads, you'll find links to a site or two where you can download the complete service manual...it's completely comprehensive and ought to take care of any future projects you'll have.
Good luck.
