When I purchased my 04 Ram QC the dealer gave a $5.00 oil change for the life of the truck. I only used it once because I switched to Mobil 1 synthetic. I changed my oil every 6,000 miles. I change oil filter every 3,000 miles and add 1 quart.

i think what he's saying is that the manual does not specify how much oil the truck needs, he knows how to change it; at the same time, the manual does specify how much oil it needs, it's in the back under "Capacity."

Why dont you just change the oil and filter at the same time?

Hi guys
I've just imported a '06 Ram Q / cab 1500 Sport with a 5.7 Hemi

Here in the UK the recommended oil (5W / 20) is really expensive and hard to get hold of

I know the manufacture recommends it but does anyone know if it's ok to use say the 5w / 30 ?

Any helpful comments are appreciated
Thanks
Bill

Gotta be careful with the oil weights mate.
Is yours fitted with the MDS system?
If it is, oil weight is critical in the MDS operation.
I have an 03 without MDS, so can't advise you more.
Some one on here will chip in, and give you the info.
This site is awsome for helping in all sorts of stuff with regards to our trucks.

umm...i tells me exactly how much oil to put in my o6 hemi right in the owners manual...i believe it says fluid capacities.

but mine always takes 7.5 quarts, and i put some in the filter before screw it on. Do it on ramps, it is about as easy as any other oil change.
