I use Napa Gold oil filter. You can use K&N too. And oil change is really easy. You should do it yourself.

OK I read everyones post and everyone has there own opinion on what to use..

BUT

Bottom line... what is the answer... Is going to the dealer and getting the standard mopar filter ok in todays trucks...

I do 36k a year in my 05. I "sad to say" hit the dealer every 3 to 4 k miles for there 24.99 special oil change..

Is this bad.. Should I be doing it myself?? Should I use synthetc seening as I do so many miles..

Not one post is really clear on what IS in FACT the best to do for our wonderfull dodge Ram Trucks

So guys... Whats the real answer......................

well to answer your question "should i be doing it myself?" if you know how to and want to do it your self then go for it. if i did that many miles a year then i might take it to the dealer for changes because that puts you getting an oil change about once a month. last time i changed the oil in my truck i bought regular dino oil penzoil, and a fram tough guard filter and it was 26.79 for the oil and filter. so if i were you id get the dealer to do it because youre saving about 2 bux a month which equals almost 50 bucks a year and its going to get old changing your oil once a month. i would probably take mine to the dealer but the drive there and back plus the time i would have to wait isnt worth the savings.

NAPA gold and Wix filter the best as far as microns go, and they will be the only ones I put on my truck. Sure others may work, but why not filter as much as possible for at most 5 more bucks?

I use a Fram tough guard filter and Mobil 1 pure synthetic oil and the truck runs awesome with it.
