Brake cleaner is a good idea, especially after installation. Don't use sandpaper on them, unless you end up with a glaze due to improper embedding or burnishing. The rotors or pads, or both, should come with instructions on proper burnishing. What brand of each did you order? Might try looking on their respective Web sites. Hawk pads have instructions that come with them, and PowerSlot Rotors have information on their Web site. However, if you went with drilled & slotted rotors, chances are, you did not order PowerSlots. Chances are the info from either may not apply to yours. Can't really say.

I've personally never heard of any sort of zink coating. I am assuming you mean the rotors and not the pads. Yes the rotors should be cleaned as any other rotor before the install, and wiped clean on the machined surface again before you drop the caliper with the new pads in place. I can only assume that the zink is to help stop rusting. Perhaps you can elaborate more as to exactly what is new to these rotors or pads that have the zink on them. Who knows, you may have found something we would all like to buy into. If you have a web site that explains it more, that might help.

i saw them on ebay for 323.79 shipped for 4 rotors with a zinc plated silver coating for rust pervention and all new brake pads that didnt say anything but premium semi metallic pads so for that price i said sold and ordered them. my current rotors have been replaced 2 times so far and im tired of them warping there from r1 concepts

might be the whole rotor is zinc coated except the brake suface, i guess that would look better than the rusty look they all get.
yeah don't sand the discs, maybe have them machined before install, just to make sure they are tru(straight). after getting everyhing installed spray down all the finger marks off with brake cleaner, Or wipe it down since it might stain the zinc coating, maybe test some where in the back of a rotor. and let us know how you like them.

You cannot machine slotted or slotted and drilled rotors without ruining them. Aside from that, the plating would go bye-bye.

well i finally got to put the rotors and pads on and wow what a difference in stopping power and my pedal is up much higher. for those who want cheap rotors these are a good deal the zinc coating wares off only where the pad touches so really the whole rotors will always look shinny silver im very happy!
