for the most part, people who go out of their way to get aftermarket tint are the same people who get nice ftermarket stereos
I was at a party back in college where several cars (mine included) were broken into and they singled out the dark tinted ones
not to say it happens every time, but the chances of someone having a nice stereo in their truck are kinda heightened on one they've done some aftrmarket work to
what you should really do is make your truck the nicest you possibly can and then slap a big APC sticker across the front....theives will stay the **** away[sm=confused06.gif]
If it was a fix it ticket (which it shoulda been).....just paying the fine won't do any good. You have to show either the CHP or DMV that you have actually fixed the issue.
I'm not sure ab out local laws....but pretty much everyone is right about the amount of tinting. However, if the cop didn't actually test the ting.....there is no way he can prove the amount of tint.....and therefor....would lose the case.
Just don't show up to court with the truck
Take pictures of another truck that looks like yours

California CHP Specific Law:

CHP states that you CANNOT tint the Windshield, or either front side windows. Read windows you can tint all you want as long as you have BOTH side mirrors.

That's California for you! It seems like every time I turn around there is a law against this and a fee for that. It's incrediable! I guess you have to live here to understand how ridiculas these things can be. We have some of the most strict emission laws in the country, yet here in Sacramento we have the worst quality of air in the country second to New York City!!??
I have tint on all my cars, nothing crazy dark. Just enough to make them look nice AND to match the rear factory tinted windows. But after talking with the DMV I have found out that the factory tint my be illegal too! WTF is that?
Oh well, I guess you have to live here to understand. Although there are other things that make living here wonderful.

rob[gl],
who's crying? I don't remember ever crying over the situation? If I remember correctly, I even said the situation was a bit funny. I'm not understanding why some people are so damn rude. And ya, I do deserve the ticket, I knew what the law was, I broke it by having the tint. But you know what? I was simply trying to say that isn't it ironic that instead of pulling two racers over that are driving dangerously down the freeway, the chp officer pulled over someone that was breaking a completely asanine law. There are alot of laws that are broken everyday, you ever sit at a stop light and hear the stereo of an suv about a block away? That SUV is breaking the law, you ever hear of those guys getting tickets? Thats more of a damn crime that me having my front windows tinted a little, wouldn't you say?

[sm=icon_quiet.gif] i will have to agree that alot of the laws are comepletely bogus. I know that here in the lovely state of new jersey any tint on the driver or passanger window is illegal, but thats not even the really good ones. In this state if your car or truck is altered in anyway from how it came from the factory technically it is illegal even if what you did is D.O.T approved. I seriously didn't belive this when i heard it but low and behold it is true. This law is obviously retarded and is very rarley....... raaaaaarley enforced but you have alot of cops who get their rocks off bustin' ppls ***** and just being a dick cause they can (alot of my friends are cops and they have turned it into a sport). I did own and S-10 xtreme, i would get pulled over all the time and this was even before i did anything to it, only because it looked like i hooked it up and half of the cops didn't belive that is how it came from Chevy.
We actually here that all the time. You know,"why are you stopping me, there are alot of people out there doing alot worse". We can only stop one car at a time. Alot of officers have been injured and killed on traffic stops where they were unable to see in the vehicle when approaching it. I personally don't think it's unreasonable to keep people from tinting the front windows. I have a family I want to come home to at night. Hey you could live in the town I work in here in Jersey. Our judge makes tinted windows a court mandatory appearance. He will check on court night to see if you removed it. If not he'll fine you twice. Obviously it's easy to tell he doesn't like them.
