Looking to buy a Ram
hey guys, im new to the site, most likely cuz i dont have a dodge but......im lookin to sell my lifted wrangler to buy a Ram.......i am looking for a 2003 or 2004 Ram 1500, i am most concerned about buying one with the Hemi, around 40-50,000k miles, 2wd, regular cab, short bed with power windows and power locks.....the other options really dont bother me and r up in the air.....im lookin to get 14-15k for my 02 wrangler....do u guys think i would be able to find a ram for this price? also are there any things i should maybe look out for when lookin to buy one, thanks for the help guys....bub
You may be able to for $15,000, depends on also where you live. Aroud here, they can be up to $21,000 for what you listed with only te 4.7. You'll have to look around in the auto traders or www.carsoup.com for more info.
Make sure you get the Hemi or the 4.7L with the newer 45rfe or 4-45rfe trannies. Also, just check routine items such as what maintenance was performed. That will make the difference for any vehicle....was it maintained or not.
Other than that, check
1. PS leakage, the clamps are not the best. These can be replaced.
2. If it has the LSD, make sure it has been serviced and checked to make sure the C clips are still attached. Had some problems with them falling out and tanking the rear end.
3. The CV boots on the front have been known to rub and tear, check those.
Other than that, I really can't think of too much else. Make sure you transfer over the 7/70 warranty.

And I just noticed that you have a lift and probably tires on your wrangler. The common rule of thumb for selling a truck/ Jeep with mods on it is to add up the total cost of everything you have added to it (lift, tires, gears, lockers, etc...), take 25% of that price, then add it to the asking price. Most people won't pay too much more than that. Also, don't say, "It's great off-road." I said that a couple times when I tried to sell off-road capable Jeeps. It scares people off because they think you beat the crap out of them.
thanks for the advise oppie, i wondered if the work i did adds to the price or lowers to the price, guess it depends on the buyer.....but good info anyway....i figured on adding a little for all the work i put into it
