Default Ways to gain HP ?(1st post)

Hi all, I am new to this board and I think the site will be a major info source and help.
I have a 2004 Ram 1500 Hemi, I already have a K&N Air filter on it and new Exhaust. I think I am pushing around 355 or 360 (sound right?) I am looking for more power, any suggestions? I want to do the more power without beating the truck down.

Thanks in advance for any answers

On a DYNO you would be lucky to make 270RWHP ... but thats not bad. I highly doubt your making 355HP. Look into an electric fan, SUPERCHIPS programer, 6.1 cam and a full aftermarket induction system.

I think he is referring to 355 hp at the flywheel, not the rear wheels. If that is case, it is very possible the CAI and exhaust add 10 hp. As for 270 rwhp being lucky, I think that depends if he has a 2WD of 4WD.

I wouldnt get the electric fan because i asked my automotive teacher at school if putting an electric fan on my truck would help it because we were installing a new electric water pump on our schools drag car motor and i asked him what it would do for my truck to put electric fan and water pump and he said not much and the reason they do it on drag cars is because they get rid of all the belts and not just the fan belt and that it wouldnt improve horsepower enough to be worth the cost of it. you could shave the heads, put a programmer, i dont know what the 6.1 cams will do but i know that my friend put a new camshaft and new cams in his truck (not sure what brand) and he got 60 extra horses at the flywheel.

wow the teacher should provide correct info, Common automotive knowledge would tell you that freeing up a pulley will put less strain on the engine which in turn will free up power, dont know how much in the case. But good luck with the build up, slap on the STS system I heard all good things about that company, to bad they dont sell it for the 4.7 motor Rams. Have a good one.

SanDiego 2wd or 4wd doesnt change rwhp, it may change acceleration b/c of weight
