how does the MDS affect the tone of the exhaust. If I install a magnaflow will it sound like a ricer when the mds kicks in? Will it be like installing an exhaust on a 4cyl.? Thanks in advance.

 

It diffidently takes on a different sound when it kicks on but its still worth it IMO .

I INSTALLE A MAGNAFLOW MUFFLER ON MY 06 HEMI WITH MDS AND LEFT BOTH RESONATORS ON SOUND GOOD, YOU CAN HERE WHEN THE MDS KICKS IN ON THE HIGHWAY, NOT BAD THOUGH, THE SET UP IS DECENT, SOME WHAT LOUD WHEN I GET ON IT, BUT STILL QUITE WHEN IAM CRUISING. I LEFT THE RESONATORS ON BECAUSE ITS EASY TO TAKE ONE OFF AT A TIME TO MAKE IT LOUDER IF I WANTED TO, HARDER TO GO BACK THE OTHER WAY. I LIKE IT SO FAR.

 

I put on a Flowmaster Delta Flow 50 Series, after the cats, no resonators. It sounds loud and I like it. When the MDS kicks in it is a bit like a semi on the jake brake. Maybe not that loud, but same type of gurgling sound.

 

That'd be cool if we could get a sound clip of when the MDS kicks in.

 

im sure when mds kicks in it wont be that crappy of a sound, your talking big borexstroke cylinders vs. 2liter 4 bangers lol, whats 4 cylinders of a hemi = 5.7/2 = 2.85 = somewhat bigger than your average rice burner and another thing arent the piston fires spaced out another piston instead of 1432 its 1--4--3--2 cause of the non used cylinders are still moving right?

 

also, it is a v motor, not an inline. v's sound a lot rougher than inline motors. there arent any ricers rolling around with a v-4, so to answer your question...it will sound different, but not like a ricer. ram_sport is right too...the firing is spaced out, so it will sound choppy i guess. i havent personally heard the mds with exhaust though, but i have a good idea wut it would sound like.

 

I GOT 3IN. MAGNAFLOW SOUNDS LIKE A V8 WITH 4 MISSES AT LOW RPMS. NOT VERY GOOD SOUNDING. YOU CAN PUSH TOW/HAUL BUTTON AND MDS KICKS OFF AT LOW SPEEDS. MAGNAFLOW SOUNDS GREAT WHEN YOUR ON IT FIRING ALL 8.
