WHY NO MDS ON 2500 HEMI ??
FFV is no good anyway. The cost of production of Ethenol is still higher than gasoline. Using either is not a long term solution. The original Deisel engine was designed to run on Peanut oil, that's right. It was biodiesel before it was diesel. Now only if I could get a bio fueled hemi. I think the real best solution would be the MR Garbage thing that the professor put on the time machine in Back to the Future. Lets call him!
I agree with most of what was said here, especially Mystro!!! I could have opted for the diesel, but the extra weight would have been murder for off roading. While the e-85 is no long term answer as yet, it could be better. At least its renewable. And if the farmers and manufacturers went to bio fuels....you get the picture. I love my truck, just wish they would do something in terms of petroleum, and get the cost of the CEO's pension plan off the working persons back.[sm=headbang.gif]
I'm still waiting on my 2500 SLT to be built, I factery orderd one with a six sp manual, this should help out with gas mileage over the life of the truck. MDS is a great idea but not ptactical for a working truck, coasting to stop lights, going down hill's in nutural ( where practical ) is going to do more for me than MDS ....
Okay People,
I just returned from my first road trip with the new ride. For those of you that don't know I own a 1/2 ton 2006 Ram QC HEMI, Laramie package. I have 2,300 total miles on the vehicle and completed a 245 mile round trip from Houston to Austin Texas this past weekend.
With the MDS system I averaged 21.5 mpg on the highway and at times when I kept the speed at 65 mph I could average over 22 mpg. I'm assuming this will go up as the engine breaks in and I switch my oil to Mobil-1 in another 700 miles. I have another road trip planned from May 15th through the 21st to Mexico and back. I'll let you know the results then.
The best milage I ever squeezed from my 2004 Ram QC with the HEMI was around 19 on the highway, sometimes right at 20 if I was going downhill.

HOUSTON HEMI I envy that MPG you’re getting !!! Especially with gas hitting $3 !!! Got my Ram 2500 in September and only just getting to 5,000 miles now, so hopefully the mileage gets better from here. But in reality, this truck replaced a rock solid, dependable 1990 D150 w/ a 318 that I'd had for 15 years, and never got over 10MPG, so I should be used to the lousy mileage....just not used to the $3 gas !!! Great comments Mystro...and yes, I do love towering over the soccer moms in my beast !!! Love the truck !! Just dreaming of a day MDS might work for the heavy duty hemi. By the way....with all the heavy-duty parts, How much heavier is the 2500 over the 1500 ?
I guess their mentality is "if you can afford a bigger truck, you can afford the gas." Besides, like some else said here, if you are buying a 2500/3500, you must be in construction or something like that. Therefore you can write it off in your taxes and depreciate it. On top of that you add the gas cost to the customer(if you are in the line of construction or other service) and deduct it too.
But if you are regular joe schmoe that just wants to show off a bigger truck at gatherings or like my wife says "to compensate", then just pay the gas. (No offense
