Default what is a good gear ratio for 4.7?

I have an '05 4.7l QC with stock 17 in. tires and almost stock everything.

ive been hearing a lot of people talk about how good the 4.56 gear ratio is but they are all HEMI guys talking.

1Would it make a difference if I bought 4.56? if not, what size should i get?
2where's the best place to buy the gears? (lol im a n00b, i know..)

please help me out, brothers

We sell alot of 4.11 gears for the 4.7 our customers like the gear with the 17 inch wheel,if your thinking of a bigger tire like a 33 maybe go with a 4.56 then . If you need any pricing email us at sales@strippermotorsports.com

I have drive a 4.7L and I have had BOTH short 17's with 29.75" tall tires and larger 20's with 32"s tall tires and I would say from personal experience with my 3rd Gen Ram GET THE 4.56's if your tire hight is 29"+ and you will NOT regret it one bit.

You have a .67 overdrive, this means you can have your cake and eat it too. 4.56's will only improve all round performance to include fuel economey from 0MPH to 65-70MPH.

DONT FEAR THE GEAR!!! 4.56's where HANDS DOWN the single best mod I have done to my 3rd Gen Ram... and I have done just about every mod possible.

Mine pulls real nice from 0MPH all the way to 140MPH... I say 140MPH because I was just under 5000 RPMS when I let off and I know without a doubt it would have pulled all the way through 5,000RPMs easy and that equals to 140MPH... the speedo stops at 120... So I have NO top end issues what so ever.

SPEED x Overall Gear Ratio x 336 / Tire Hight = RPM
140MPH x 3.42 x 336 / 32 = 5027RPMs

From 50MPH Role it pulls real hard and does not let off till I let it off.

aight...hers an example question for ya Ram:

Yourt doing 65 behind someone in the fast lane. Everyone is hauling butt around you. You need to get around this person...but u need to do it quick or be rear ended.
will the 4.56's be better or worse than the 3.55's in the above scenario?????

btw: what is a BG Flash?????

i would assume 4.56 seeing as your acceleration should be much better

It's what you should have instead of the Jet Chip [8D] as the Jet chip has been proven at the track as having little to no effect (and at times, even a negative effect) on performance.

Ohh but the GB FLASH proved to be even just as WORTHLESS as the "JET RIP"

With the stock tune my truck ran best of 10.5 and with the BG tune it ran 10.8 . I threw on the superchips and ran a 10.1... so In my opinion if your mildly modded then SUPERCHIPS is the best thing going...

I Sent my BG tune back and I personaly would NOT recomend his products to anyone...BG is a WAS BEEN ... there tunes for the 3rd Gen vehicles are no where close to what Superchips can do for you...

Ill say it again... IT PULLS GREAT no matter what speed Im at... Pick a speed... ANY SPEED.... and I will tell you it pulls better than it did when it was stock 3.55's all the way till you lose your nerve and let off the gas.
