Cruise Control Question
I was cruising at about 55mph on a state road last night, with the cruise control set, and when I came to a long downhill, the vehicle actually downshifted to maintain the speed I set.
This is the first time its ever happened, and I've never had a vehicle that would downshift to reduce speed with cruise control on.
Anyone elses do this?

Not saying it's never done it, but I've never noticed it in my '05, and it has a lot of highway miles on it, mostly with the cruise on.
My rental car over here, a Citroen C5 downshifts on its own all the time. It's kinda annoying, actually!

Yep....my 03 does the same.
I noticed mine does it when I have Tow/Haul on. I thought it was something through that. I have not noticed mine do it with cruise set. I will pay more attention next time.

It does say in the owners manual that if your transmission is popping in and out of OD then you should disable the OD. I just towed a Jeep Liberty (4100 lb curb weight plus a buncha **** inside of it) on an 18' flatbed trailer from San Antonio TX to just south of Hartford CT. I left the OD off going through the hills and mountains. Once I got to more level ground, I was able to leave it on for fuel conservation. If you get to a certain grade it downshifts to maintain the speed. All the computer cares about is maintaining the speed you set. If that means upping the RPM to do it, then that will happen.
