If youre gonna do a swap; go with the 5.7 and supercharge it. a buddy of mine is making 720hp at the wheels with n20 in his 05 Ram HEMI. its a 4wd thats been lowered so he runs it in 4H at the dragstrip and goes around the waterbox. Hooks everytime.

Is he making that much power on the stock engine, or did he upgrade a few things first?

700+ hp to the wheels on a 4x4 with a stock block does not sound right. A stock 4x2 5.7 puts about 260-280 to the wheels so you would need a 400+ shot of nitrous which our blocks can't handle. The most I have seen with nitrous is about 525rwhp.

so.... i think the dude who started this is near almost decided on the engine he wants.

but from me reading about this and thinking the same thing - will the current 4.7L truck TRANNY and other engine parts that don't come a long with a new engine be suffient to handle any of the extra power and torque? I for one also kind of want more than what the 4.7L offers especially buying an '03 with 73K miles on her. If i want to keep the truck, a new motor could be needed here in a years.

I would get an engine/trans combo, preferably as a unit. Just gotta make sure there's a good 9.25 rear behind. Get a junkyard or order the right driveshaft. I dunno if the front springs are different between the 4.7 and 5.7.

sorry, my mistake. i meant to say that he was making that much with supercharger and n20 w/ bottle heater. i wouldn't believe it but i saw the dyno sheets with my own eyes. hes rebuilding the motor as we speak w/ 1000hp guaranteed pistons, rods, lifters, all that good s**t. I don't know the specifics. I was just trying to make a point.

After 700+ rwhp I am amazed he is not just rebuilding the engine but also the tranny and diff.

hey guys another question bout that engine swap. how much do you guys estimate that getting a 5.7L hemi swapped in would cost? i know that the engine itself is about 7500, so could you guys give me a ballpark guess of how much?
